Out of hours in China Grove
China Grove is about 35 miles north-east of uptown Charlotte, just south of Salisbury. We answer at night and at weekends, and the first thing we do is tell you honestly whether this is a call-now problem or a morning one, because the morning rate is lower and most faults genuinely wait.
The exception is water escaping, and in China Grove the answer depends on where the unit is. Utility room, closet and crawlspace through the older streets, garage in the newer building. In the mill-era houses the doorway is frequently the binding constraint, not the floor space, and it is worth measuring before anyone quotes you an upgrade.
- Call now: water running from the tank body, spreading across a floor, or any leak at all from a unit above living space.
- Morning is fine: a drip from a fitting or the relief valve discharge pipe. Put a bucket under it.
- Morning is fine: no hot water with no water on the floor. Neither an electric element nor a lost pilot will flood your house overnight.
We quote the after-hours rate on the phone before anyone is dispatched, along with the likely cost band for what your symptom suggests.

What China Grove itself changes
The housing in China Grove
China Grove grew around milling and the town still shows it, right down to the 1903 roller mill in the middle of it. The housing that came with that era is small, close together and still occupied, and the utility spaces in it were sized for the equipment of the time rather than for a modern fifty gallon tank. Newer building sits around the edges. The question we get asked most here is not what it costs to fix but whether a bigger tank will physically go in, and quite often the honest answer is no.
The pipe era
The older core is where galvanised supply may still be in service, restricting hot and cold together. Newer edges are copper and PEX.
